Resources for New Bloggers
We're new to blogging. We've been actively driving this blog for the past 2-3 weeks. Attending A Day with Seth Godin we saw the potential for blogs in our marketing efforts. We've dutifully tried since to maximize this resource.
We also want to share our experience to help people avoid our mistakes. No sense 'duplicating failures'.
We've had some success and some positive feedback in emails and comments. And we've found the community of bloggers generally speaking quite positive, helpful and supportive.
David St. Lawrence offered some kind comments and helpful advice on using trackback links. He also suggested reading "The Weblog Handbook" by Rebecca Blood. I overnighted it from 1800ceoread. At first glance it reads sharp, crisp, humble, efficient. Get it.
Lastly, I found a site that seems useful. It's bloglinker.com. It's value-add is another community built around an easy method for adding links to your blog or website independent of blog resource used. They provide html scripts you can add to your blog or site that shows all the links you've added using bloglinker.
At the bottom of this blog is how my links are shown using this service. As you can see there's duplication with my links using Typepad. The tradeoff is that my universe of links is expanded into the community rapidly growing with bloglinker.com. It has some easy-to-use resources for changing the look and feel of the link list, adding the links, creating sublists of links, etc.
In summary...(Smile) here's the resources I've found in this short-lived life as an active blogger:
* Community of Bloggers. That's the greatest resource. Thank you all for your comments.
* "The Weblog Handbook" by Rebecca Blood.
It's not complete by any means. We'll add to it as we go. But I hope it helps, or at least is amusing.

Thanks for the mention.
I see that you have mastered links now.
You have posted a great picture. Why not crop it closely and put it in your Author's Profile page as "Your Photo?" Then it will reside at the top of a side bar.
Good luck with your site.
