How to generate WOM: Say "Thank you"

Sometimes the steps to generate WOM can be incredibly simple. Maybe that's why it's such a challenge. Cutting through all the noise, in the marketplace and in our company and dare I say it...in our own head, may be the biggest challenge.

Just say 'thank-you' (and mean it) is maybe the most effective way. You can say it any number of ways from answering your phones, to sending correct invoices, to delivering a shipment on time, to making a product that works wonderfully for your customers' needs. Not your needs; your customers' needs.

A simple email can work, too.

"In gratitude" was the subject line in an email we received this week. It was from our favorite restaurant, Cafe Dodici. The email was sent to its favorite (highest-volume...SMILE) customers saying...thanks. Thanks for voting them best restaurant in the area, supporting them, bringing our friends and families to the restaurant.

Just the care and attention to the subject line communicated so much of why we like this restaurant. "In gratitude", together with the wonderful experiences we've had at the restaurant, made us smile and open with great expectation the email.
